HARTS Radio Amateur Examination Study Workshops (English class) 2023 (2023Q302)

11-07-2023

HARTS has cordially invited members of the Corps to enroll on the subject workshops in preparation for the October 2023 Hong Kong Radio Amateurs’ Examination (“HKRAE”) with a view to enrich one’s radio communication knowledge as well as for the benefit of the community.

According to the current Telecommunications Ordinance, it is illegal in Hong Kong to possess, maintain, or operate certain wireless communication equipment without a valid license. Possession or operation of non-compliant communication equipment, once convicted through inditement, could result in a maximum fine of HK$100,000 and imprisonment for 5 years.

Once one has passed the HKRAE organised by the Hong Kong Office of the Communications Authority (“OFCA”), one is entitled to apply for an Authority to Operate (“ATO”). With a legitimate Hong Kong amateur radio license, one could legitimately communicate with amateur radio stations worldwide. Furthermore, one is also entitled to apply for a “Harmonised Amateur Radio Examination Certificate”, which is recognised by over 50 jurisdictions worldwide.
